General Information about Aachen :

In the centre with its pedestrian precincts you will come across all kinds of delight: impressive town houses and historic squares, the sparkling variety of the fountains of Aachen, "la dolce vita" in the cafés and the fantastic choice of first-rate shops - a pure paradise for shopping tours.

Even after business hours there is still plenty of amusement. The Aacheners are a sociable crowd and the city centre is the place to meet. That is especially true for the students of Aachen. Many evenings the venerable marketplace is filled with people till late into the night.

Aachen is a hospitable town; even the Romans felt at home here. Situated in the midst of green areas and easy to grasp though being a large city. Whether you come for a shopping spree, a health cure or a conference: in Aachen you are welcome by sparkling variety, full of joy for living and vitality.

Aachen is in a fortunate situation in more than one way. European thinking and lifestyle have a long tradition in Aachen where the three countries of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands meet. Aachen is embedded in an attractive landscape. Just outside the city, sceneries rich in forests, meadows and hills impress their visitors. The frontier crossing wildlife park Nordeifel / HohesVenn-Eifel for example appeals to everybody. Moreover, the neighbouring Dutch region of Limburg is worth an excursion at any time. Near the border of the city tourists can visit the intersection of the three countries Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium - which is also the highest elevation of the Netherlands.

It is also conveniently located with regard to transport facilities in the direction of Brussels, Paris and Antwerp. Moreover, it can easily be reached by train as well. The airports of Düsseldorf, Cologne, Maastricht-Aachen and Brussels are only a stone's throw away.

The conference takes place at the Karman Auditory, Eilfschornsteinstraße 15, 52056 Aachen, near the historic centre of Aachen.

How to get to Karman Auditory
  • by car
    Coming from Düsseldorf (A44) or Cologne (A4) follow A4 at Kreuz Aachen toward direction Heerlen / Antwerpen. Use exit Laurensberg / Richterich, turn to the right towards Zentrum / RWTH. Follow L232 until you reach the Ponttor, turn right onto the Pontwall and after 100 m take a left-turn onto the Wüllnerstraße. At the lights, turn right onto Templergraben. The Karman auditory is located on the left-hand side, just in front of the old Hauptgebäude.
  • by train
    You can reach Aachen Hauptbahnhof via Düsseldorf, Cologne and Brusseles. Take Bus No. 13 / 43 towards Ponttor. The bus stop is Technische Hochschule.
  • by plane
    You can reach Aachen from any of the following airports: Flughafen Maastricht-Aachen (NL), 35 km, Flughafen Lüttich (B), 50 km, Flughafen Köln-Bonn, 85 km, Flughafen Düsseldorf, 90 km, Flughafen Brüssel (B), 143 km. There exist a special transfer service between Aachen and airport Düsseldorf and Cologne.
